Hello, my dear readers!
This time of year brings with it a series of special event days and one of the most significant among them is Mothering Sunday. It’s a day where we are encouraged to express our gratitude and appreciation for the remarkable women who have shaped our lives. For many, it’s a day filled with love, joy and delight in the presence of these great women.
On Mothering Sunday, we must acknowledge the wise, kind, and loyal women in our lives and recognize them as precious gifts.
However, it’s important to remember that Mothering Sunday can be a challenging and emotional day for some. For those who are grieving the loss of a mother or child, it can be a heartbreaking experience. For those who have not received the parenting they deserved, it may bring feelings of sadness. And for those who have never had children or have chosen a child-free path, it can be a day that feels lonely.
In my own experience, Mothering Sunday has often held a bittersweet significance. The illness and suffering my dear Mother, Marion endured have made me cherish the time we had together and wish for more. I have also witnessed the pain experienced by grieving mothers and the discomfort that arises when people inquire about one’s decision not to have children. Yet, I have been blessed with the love of extraordinary women like Marion and Granny Ivy, as well as a tribe of remarkable individuals who have embraced and supported me. It is my aspiration to be one of those women for those whom I encounter.
One of the aspects I frequently assist my clients with is managing their thoughts, feelings and actions during challenging times. If Mothering Sunday brings you joy and happiness, celebrate and cherish your good fortune. If this day brings feelings of sorrow or longing, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and may a brighter day soon arrive.
Thank you for bringing joy into my life. You are appreciated deeply.
